Gift planning is the process of structuring your support for Georgia Tech in a way that maximizes your philanthropic and personal objectives. Gift plans may combine different methods of giving, and usually revolve around a particular asset or combination of assets, including cash, publicly traded stock, municipal bonds, real estate, privately held stock, personal property, such as art, or life insurance.
There are three key issues to consider when making a gift to Tech: which assets to give, how to give these assets, and when to make a gift. Visit the gift planning process page for more information.
We are here to assist you with your gift plans. To contact the Office of Gift Planning, please call 404.894.4678.
A gift of cash is the easiest and most frequently used way to make a gift to Georgia Tech. The most common form of planned giving is a bequest, which is a gift that is made through a Will or living trust. The Georgia Tech Foundation is often named the beneficiary in the Wills and living trusts of alumni and friends. For more information on bequests, please consult our discussion of Estate Gifts.
You may give cash, publicly traded stock, municipal bonds, real estate, privately held stock, life insurance, and even personal property. Click here for more information about the types of assets you may give and the associated benefits.
Gifts made to Georgia Tech through a charitable gift annuity or charitable remainder unitrust or annuity trust may provide you with income while also helping Tech.
Different deductions are associated with different gifts. Factors influencing tax deductions include the assets you are giving Georgia Tech and when a specific asset is given. In general, for outright gifts to Tech, you will receive a charitable income-tax deduction. Click here for more information about the types of assets you may give and the associated benefits.
