Founders' Council
A Legacy of Philanthropy
Members of Founders' Council perpetuate the legacy of giving back to Georgia Tech. By including Tech in their estate plans or making life-income gifts, Founders' Council members are able to make greater commitments than otherwise possible, and they are making a lasting impact on Georgia Tech.
Your gift can perpetuate your legacy, whether it is excellence in engineering, science, mathematics, business and entrepreneurship, leadership, or athletic achievement. Whatever area you wish to support, as a member of Founders' Council, yours will be a legacy of philanthropy.
History of Founders' Council
Since its founding in 1885, the Georgia Institute of Technology has benefited from the foresight and generosity of individuals who have invested in its future by naming the Institute as a beneficiary in their Wills. As tax laws have changed, other gift plans emerged, and each year planned gifts add to the value of the Institute's endowment.
In 1984, Founders' Council was established to recognize generous alumni and friends who have made provisions for the future financial strength of Georgia Tech. Members of this cumulative recognition society have made documented estate plans or life-income gifts of at least $25,000 for Georgia Tech.
Qualifying gifts include:
• non-contingent bequests
• charitable gift annuities
• gifts of retirement-plan assets
• charitable remainder trusts
• life insurance
Founders' Council members are recognized, with their permission, in the Wardlaw Center on North Avenue and in Georgia Tech publications, such as the Founders' Council Newsletter (269K .pdf).
